Also the note he wrote was translated correctly, he just thought it would take them a couple months to decipher it and everything would already be over by then, but they translated it much faster than he planned and thus took the money thinking that was his plan all along.

You guys did get the major gist of his plan, but to fully summarize it from the novels: He was upset that the girls had built their own tycoon on his knowledge "without him" since he still thinks Shadow Garden is fake. He also saw how their rapid rise was pissing off the other merchants and had an idea. He decided to collapse the market deliberately, close down Mitsugoshi in the process, then use all the money to start his own company and hire the girls as his employees so HE could get all the income because he still doesn't get that they're making all this money and fame FOR him.

Wow, I've rewatched it so many times with different reactors and never seen this mentioned, what a crazy detail

From the little I can read of his original message, the decoded version is actually what he wrote

So, if I remember correctly, Gettan didn't actually put anything there, he was actually referring to Yukime. His slurred speech caused a miscommunication, and the "snow" part is a bit of a play on the fact that Yukime's name has the word for snow in it which is "Yuki". He thought Cid was talking about Yukime, just like Yukime thought he was talking about her, and so he was entrusting Yukime to Cid. But Cid was only thinking about the gold that he thought Gettan stole and so mixed with the miscommunication he thought Gettan buried it under the snow. He did not intend for the girls to find the gold. In fact, I'm actually not fully sure myself if he ACTUALLY wrote what they decoded from his message and if instead it was just Eta THINKING that's what it decoded to and like a lot of things in the show it just so happened to be correct. Because I doubt he planned for his own failure, which is the only scenario in which the girls should know about the gold. If he succeeded, and they translated it then, it would be very confusing. So he wrote a coded message that actually meant nothing just to throw Beta off, but Eta decoded it into something meaningful and that wildly was entirely accurate. So that message actually became the downfall of his own plans because if they hadn't taken the gold he would have succeeded(And Yukime would likely be dead.).

Don't worry, the next episode is a "filler" (more like a short side story) and you can turn your brain off. After that comes the last arc for this season. Prepare yourself :D It's going to be insane on several levels.

he still has fondness for others, its just that his money hungry side takes his number 1 priority unless the girls or family are on deaths door

I was also a little confused the first time I watched this arc, especially because I watched it when it was airing so I forgot a bit after not watching for a week. In subsequent rewatches of the show it has become my favorite arc lol

One of hillarious things about this episode is that when Delta returned the theme playing in the background was very in style of "lost dog returns home" themes xD

About the voice recording thing in the end. it will be a serious plot in the episode 11 of season 2. but no one will notice it and so do you. even when you read this, you`ll forgot about this foreshadowing because no one will understood the reference when 1st watching the episode 11. hope you re-read this after watching episode 11 :)

He basically didn't expect the girls to decipher the note lol. He planned to get the money and then recruit the girls. So the money would be in his name.
