To me the soul society looks like if you were to take a huge platter of tacos and then built a model of the soul society and then removed all the tacos.

Also Bleach is a subtly written manga so there will be tons of details you may miss, they won't spoon-feed you the writing, lore, story etc like how One Piece or Naruto do which could be why some aren't as drawn to it as those but hope u enjoy this incredible journey!!
