It was good revisiting this one, been a long time since I saw this movie, I had forgotten most of the movie. Daniel Day-Lewis is always great.

James Fenimore Cooper was the first novelist in America to actually write about America rather than setting his stories in Europe, so he was very popular. His story lines are terrific. Alas he was a very, very poor writer as a craftsman. Want to take a nap? Read anything he's ever written. Terrible wordsmith, but he picked superb plots. Mark Twain once wrote a humorous article called "The Literary Crimes of James Fenimore Cooper". Thanks for reading my boring preachy background commentary. Thanks for doing this one. It is a far better film than a book, and that is as you know rare.
