Keep in mind that both II and III were directed by Richard Lester; who was not only known for directing The Three Musketeers films for the Salkinds, but was also known for directing The Beatles in their first two feature films: A Hard Dayโs Night and Help!. So he was known for the type of humor shown in both movies. He tried to do it here, but audiences felt they went too comedic and not as semi-serious as they were on the first film.
