I'll offer you this soothing sketch of a girl in a santa hat to hopefully make you smile. She's a bit sad and disheveled, which mirrors my state of mind, but she offers her foot to us nonetheless. I lost my job a few weeks ago, so I had a lot more time to draw but I'm forced to be more confident in the value of my stuff. I should try to do commissions, but the idea fills me with anxiety. The idea for this sketch was "Christmas stocking." I colored it quickly just to see what it might look like. I always prefer the monochrome version over the colored one, so this means my color choices must be bad, but I don't have the "eye" for colors developed yet, so I don't really know how to fix that... Also the lines on the left (behind the hand) are just kinda random, because I'm not exactly sure how the leg and clothes would connect up there. But some of you said it was okay to post a sketch, and that's how it looks like with me - just exploring lines and colors and failing a lot. If you look at the nose between the "glasses" and "no glasses" versions, it's also different - the long nose is more like the character, but the small nose is more cute, I think. I'll probably keep the cute one. With the stocking shading I'm also not 100% sure. Maybe the toes shouldn't be visible at all? okay, I rambled again. That's how I work, really - I just kinda "draw badly" and then think "what's bad here?" and try again. Hm, well, I still have some time before Christmas to mess around with the colors and the lines before I post it up. The gift of feet from a cute girl... that's a nice thought...
