Maybe for a minority, but history shows and I see even in my local government job what people are motivated by. It's about having power, and/or getting promoted, and/or getting fame or recognition, and/or keeping your job for the salary and benefits. Republicans and Democrats are coworkers. Politicians are in a job. Jobs are about building and using relationships and power plays.
