Hammer Time?

Comments

So shield has the time stone along with a sling ring? I wonder who's fingers those were, Dr Strange or the ancient one. And why would they have been in the White House. So many questions and I look forward to see how you answer them.

Ricardo

Really looking forward to the next one.

It's a good framing - I'm reminded of "technical debt" in the IT world, which has a similar "explain the intangible in terms of the intuitive" vibe. The concept is useful too, especially for a military leader (Thor) trying to take on more civil responsibility. Power flows quickly from the barrel of a gun, but inexorably from the gaps between bullets. [Edit] My only complaint is that it's quite a technocratic framing: it assumes you _start out_ with ultimate power and a bunch of banked Shadow Resources, and that you'll keep them as long as you don't fuck things up. That, again, is a decent approximation to Thor's situation, but only cos the only one actively plotting against him is Loki who can thus be handled on a case-by-case basis. It's quite possibly giving him a skewed perspective of what other leaders have to deal with: "Oh, you spend half your time fighting off coups? You must've mismanaged your Shadow Resources." In Karmeleeon's shoes I'd want to clarify that this was an ideal and that governance in a snake pit is very different.

More interesting question: which now-dead MCU villain was she?

Apeljohn

For real, though, the timeline is all wrong for that to be the case, but I understand the confusion.

Ah, no, I meant for it to be entirely unrelated. ... but don't tell anyone else that. :)

It's not a huge complaint but including any real basing in his thoughts such as "Ainu most likely considering the tattoos" or a margin for error given "likey Ainu or from far eastern Russia", would make him seem more like a learned agent to me.

And I would think a highly intelligent spy familiar with Asian ethnicities wouldn't even try to assume an ethic background at a glance

Clint mentions that they found a green stone next to what sounds like a sling ring. My mind jumped at the thought that all the killing being done in the background may have had a very unintended consequence.

Steven Stiring

I was including it as a nod to the fact that Hawkeye is actually a highly intelligent spy, and, given his Ronin phase, is very familiar with Asian societies.

??? Strange never gave the Time Stone to S.H.I.E.L.D. They got the blue one (can't remember which) from next to Captain America, and they'll still have that, it's just that Steve is dead.

Thanks for the Chapter Lee, and the lesson. Your work always seems to teach me something new. Shadow resources, I've always heard something vaguely like that but never in clear terms like you've wrote it.

Silent_Ninja10

Lee, did you butterfly away Dr Strange and give the time stone to SHIELD? That is how Bad Things happen man.

Steven Stiring

Edits come one -> on Breech -> breach

One thing, for this sentence: "And, as the other agents lifted their rifles, the not-an-agent transformed, into a woman, Asian, tanned, Ainu most likely, with Glowing Red Eyes." It seems a little odd for Barton to think Ainu immediately, as they are not only such a tiny percentage of Japan's pop, but tend to be relatively indistinguishable in the modern day, unless they are deliberately affecting cultural wear/tattoos which few do. Without language/cultural identifiers, it would be like seeing someone who looks vaguely northern European and thinking: "Ah, probably Sámi."

Rosenheim

Interesting chapter! Thanks for writing.
