This is a Democracy: Introduction & a Poll
Added 2024-08-12 10:52:31 +0000 UTCFirst, I want to introduce myself because while TrueRef is a team and very collaborative, most of the time, it's just me talking in the third person. I'm Abbey Esparza, the director and owner of TrueRef.
As a TrueRef+ subscriber, the TrueRef library and two new packs a month are the juiciest perks you get. But in my opinion, the most fun is helping direct and steer future reference packs!
There are a million different options, with a hundred different choices for each and every theme at any given time. I never find just one corset or just one sword. I find 10, and I want to buy them all. But it's not just props and costumes—it's themes and models, too!
So, I want to ask what you want to be most involved in? What is most important to you?

2024-08-13 21:45:06 +0000 UTCPerhaps some hard light images. Such as using little to no light sources. Instead using a neon light held close to the model. It would cast some amazing shadows and highlights across the model. Whether it is near his/her face or body. Just the strong contrast of light against a dimly lit form would be really cool to see. Plus, there isn't much like it out there that I have seen. Especially if the model is black, their dark skin with the strong piercing light creates amazing highlights and contours across the face/body. You see this mostly in fashion magazines as a way to draw attention to the product being sold. But if this method or technique was used to draw attention to a human body instead, I think you'd have a winning combination on your hands. Those are my two scents =P Thanks!

2024-08-13 15:36:37 +0000 UTCOh wow, thank you so much! Please don't be shy in letting us know what you want, especially given your experience. We really are trying to aim outside of that typical reference box in terms of models, poses, and themes!

2024-08-13 14:19:58 +0000 UTCI have been an artist for a long time now (I have been doing it professionally for a few years) and have always struggled with good reference material. I can't even begin to tell you all how many sites I have subscribed to for images/reference and end up seeing the same thing, same poses, same everything. I saw you guys on X by pure chance and I was thought, hmm, these guys are doing something different. I instantly went to Kickstarter and signed up. I am now gonna cancel my other subscriptions and use you guys exclusively. I am excited and hopeful that you guys will be a great resource for my business! Thanks. looking forward to what you guys create.
