Excellent analysis, as usual. Personally I would have made the connection to abusive relationship and child abuse, where the abuse is often framed as "for her/his own good" by the perpetrator, which is again really just a pretext to form the other in one's own image. The psychological mechanism is the same, which explains the overlap between these groups. You are touching on it when you mention white nationalist's tendency to value classical ideas of gender, sexuality and race, of course.
