Can I Get Your Advice on Something?
Added 2017-10-26 08:51:06 +0000 UTCHello lovely Patrons! As a great man once said, "Here's an Idea!" - Philosophy Tube merch.
I've been thinking for a while about the possibility of getting some, designed by a proper artist as well (who I'd pay) - I love what @skutchdraws has done for ContraPoints, designing some awesome T-shirts for her channel.
First of all, I wouldn't have T-shirts made unless the supplier could guarantee me no sweatshop labour went into making the shirts themselves. Not gonna budge on that.
Second, it'd have to be worthwhile, obviously, so if nobody's interested then I won't. So far my cursory research on Twitter tells me that a few people might, if the designs were nice.
Third, I'm wondering whether selling merchandise is antithetical to the spirit of the show? I don't think it is: I mean it's consistent to give away free education and sell T-shirts, but that's why I thought I'd ask you - you were all motivated to support me making the show by something. As Patrons, I feel like you're to an extent the moral guardians of the project. (Is that weird?) Would it be counter to that something, whatever it was you saw in the show that motivated you to sign up, for me to sell merch?
So these are my two questions to you; your honest feedback would be really, really appreciated. I doubt there'll be unanimous consensus but I do want to hear your thoughts:
1) If there was merch, would you be interested?
2) Should there be merch?

Yes and Yes. But also have some merch that is not obviously a 'youtuber' shirt. like Nathan Zed has shirts that say "good enough" with a cool design.
