That word "community" -- it triggers a deep distrust in me. Any us/them distinction has costs as well as benefits, and the positive connotations around the word "community" hide the fact that it is still about a barrier between people. Communities also tend to enforce a standard of behavior, and so can end up being coercive. (Here I think of struggle of fitting in no-doubt felt by Black or Gay Republicans.)
