I recall from a philosophy class, reading Dennett’s “Where am I?” (Dennett, 1978). Dennett does not offer an explanation of how his the copy of his brain is represented, just that it has been copied. I believe that our inability to express the how of such copying should not preclude the possibility of such copying You correctly observe that modern (digital) computers represent everything as zeros and ones while the brain operates over a collection of electrical and chemical (analog) states. One could suppose that an analog computer could be created, or that a large enough set of digital states could be assembled to closely model enough analog states, that would represent a machine to hold and operate a copy of a mind.
