'Sex Work' Bloopers

I am glad to see that most people who aren't in german speaking europe haven't heard from her. She is not only anti sex work and anto hijab (which I am personally involved as a hijabi) but also NERFy and transphobic in much of here view on women. ("Frauen haben einen Uterus" (women have a uterus) and the like which not only exclude trans women and falsely include enby folks but is also pinning womanhood to a certain set of reproductive organs...) I personally don't think you are a minority in finding her problematic rather that those who support her are more vocal and have huge platforms (like terre de femmes, EMMA and so on)

Thanks a lot for the feedback! Helps me put it a bit more into perspective. @Ed, that's pretty much where my “very problematic” comes from. It’s nice to learn I'm apparently not the only one who finds the situation more sad than, say, infuriating. In my circle of acquaintances, it's either total admiration on all accounts, or total rejection. Whereas I just find it sad and wonder what has happened. Thank you for your post.

I knew that was all nighter setting spray! Also you're freaking adorable.

I'm in the US, and I know who she is. But I only really remember her as the person a couple of gay guys who were hanging out in the same computer lab as I was back in the early 90s were talking about as they pondered how their having sex together was violence against women. I understand she's taken up a position that makes it much less likely for her to encounter proof that her assertion is not true in a personally meaningful way. But I do find it sad that she either still has not found a gentle partner, she feels too trapped by the assertions she's made to be able to change her stance, or she somehow thinks this is a more profitable existence than if she backed down and took up another line of work.

Which reminds me, I meant to ask when you released your (excellent) video – is Alice Schwarzer a thing in the UK? She more or less dominates the whole ALL SEX WORK IS VIOLENCE thing here in German speaking Europe, also the HIJAB IS SUPPRESSION discourse, and is considered an icon for her feminist publication "Emma". But I frankly don't have the foggiest whether she's somebody who people doing pieces on sex work and / or other feminist topics in the Anglo-Saxon world are even aware of. I should add that personally, I find her current stances very problematic (to put it nicely), but considering the coverage she receives here in newspapers and on TV I might be in the minority. I'm just curious whether German media are a special case, or whether she still is relevant after all these decades internationally.
