BTS Pics - 'Queer✨'

Hello lovely patrons!

After three exhausting days of filming we've finally wrapped on my next video, entitled - 'Queer✨' (Yes the sparkle emoji is compulsory, you'll find out why!) This is my biggest and boldest video yet: it's got multiple costumes and sets, three full musical numbers, and all sorts of amazing surprises! Hope you enjoy these Behind The Scenes pics! Please don't share them elsewhere, they are just for us ;)

This is the first set - I was very grateful to Murder Mile Studios for renting me their dungeon for the day! It's the same place I shot a lot of Abortion and Ben Shapiro, though you'll get to see more of it this time

I hired the extremely talented Alice Pope-Terry to assist me on set; this lovely shot was taken by her! Thanks to your generous help I was able to pay her a proper rate too!

Murder Mile has some exciting sets, as you can see!

And did I mention it's A MUSICAL? Not only will you hear me singing (a lot) but I also get my sax out too!

It took me a fair bit of practice to get back in playing shape - it's been a while since I picked it up!

Not all the songs are happy though - there's a big bluesy villain number that I love!

And to sing a villain's song we'll need a villain, so welcome back to the show Mr. Not Good Enough, one of the first characters who ever featured in Philosophy Tube canon, returning with a new suit and an even meaner disposition!

But of course it's not all song and dance - there's some great technical philosophy too, mainly the philosophy of language

I was really pleased to have Yer Dad in this video - great of him to stop by the studio. Top bloke.

As you can see, I splashed out a little on the backgrounds for this one as well - got myself some nice sparkly ones!

And oh my gosh, it's the first canonically female Philosophy Tube character - please welcome Yer Mum!

Here you can see the makeup look more clearly - part of me was tempted to go all in on contouring and blush, but a plainer look better suits the character (and my current skill level!) - Yer Mum is a classy lady and she'll glam up for a night out, but she's not exactly on the cutting edge of fashion. Or anything...

If I'd had more time I could have shaved my wrists and plucked my eyebrows, but I'm pretty pleased at my handiwork considering it's my first time in drag!

I think this video is going to be my best yet - I can't wait to share it with you! $15+ patrons will get to see it early; for everybody else I'm hoping to have it out basically as soon as the music is done, fingers crossed by the end of October! I'll have screenshots from the editing phase for you soon!

Oh, I'm going to join the queue of people who're looking forward to this. I mean, how have we managed so long without Yer Mum?

I’m so so excifor this one

Yer Mum has a delicious amount of pearl necklaces. Wonder if she's compensating for something...

This looks so exciting! You look very pleased! I cannot get over how great Yer Mum looks, spot on and you look great. I'm really looking forward to this as someone who finds the word "queer" to be the easiest label, and it's one that I feel very comfortable with. Plus I'll get a nice helping of philosophy to add to my reading list! Can't wait for a bluesy villain number, I'm picturing Ursula in a casino, to be very explicitly queer. Good luck with editing!

Glad I joined just in time for this majesty✨ Can’t wait.

The Yer Mum character reminds me of another character from a comic book in the 80's. That character is very queer and very much not Yer Mum and the resemblance makes my autoclave of a heart stop steam cleasening for a minute. 💜 Sidenote: I've been seeing tweets going around saying different color hearts mean things now. If someone knows the meanings and is reading this can you tell me? I really like using purple and black but I don't want to give the wrong message.

I enjoy that you're recycling that lovely sequin checkerboard sweater vest from Chernobyl. You should work that into all videos going forward!

This looks AMAZING and I can’t wait but I too got a niggling worry when I saw the subject matter. I really hope all is well as I know that the videos are incredibly considered and that blood, sweat and tears that go into the making of them. ❤️🏳️‍🌈

I’m aware of this, and don’t worry - the video goes into it!

I want to see a traditional country house murder with Ollie playing all of the roles. :D

Hey Ollie, I just wanted to flag this for your consideration: Reading the title I'm getting a concerned sensation about a potential backlash. Some people consider 'queer' a slur, and therefor only a word that LGBT+ folks can use. I can foresee some folks being incredibly uncomfortable with a straight cis person using the word 'queer', in the same way that folks may react to a straight cis person freely using the word f**g*t, even if it's in an academic and analytical context. You may have already taken this into consideration, in which case please ignore this. But reading the title of your video has produced a small sinking feel in my stomach, and I thought I'd just forewarn you about this potential future. I know you have bleeped out the N word in previous productions, and while 'queer' has no where near the social implications of the N word, and they're definitely not on the same level, this still may be something to consider doing again. (Or have an LGBT+ person speak the parts where the word is used explicitly). I'm generally very chill about folks' use of language, and think Twitter cancel culture is awful, and that the abuse leveled at Natalie recently is not warranted at all. But it is what it is, and in this case, I wouldn't necessarily disagree with the backlash if you use the word 'queer' throughout this video and get that response from people in your audience. So, just a heads up!

Yer Mum looks so elegant- good job!
