I'm just now catching up to this one ... laughed out loud several times during the cartoon. That 'Symposium' bit was inspired. (I mean, the whole thing was, but...)

I find most perfume overpowering and much prefer the more milder scents of soap. Maybe I am just unsophisticated. :P

If you have time and are of the mind, check out a video game called Nier Automata. It's a game about philosophy but includes robots, anime girls and characters named after philosophers and examines ideas of humanity, morality, fate, and truth.

I loved the video. Have you heard of the book Perfume by Patrick Suskind? It was written in 1987 in Germany and the story is about this concept, and literally about making perfumes. It’s pretty short and a fascinating read, showing how fine the line is between beauty and horror, and the desires for beautiful things.

Maybe one reason that war gets music and art, and disease doesn't as much, is because war is at least presented as having a purpose or reason. War also has entirely human actors, where "our enemy, the virus" is just senseless genetic mechanism. This one hit hard. I haven't cried about this epidemic very often. At this point, I can't even appreciate art to any extent, much less create it.

The music industry is rife with examples of artists who are PROBLEMATIC but then write music that makes your soul fly. The Marquis de Sade got a "discipline" of sex named after him. I pun.

Just thought I'd point out some amusing (to me) potential wordplay. You sourced umbert eco at one one point. eco could be pronounced like echo, so you'd get umbert echo, or umbert umbert. Sound familiar? lol
