Screenshots - Antisemitism: An Analysis

Hello lovely Patrons!

Editing is almost done on my next episode! $15+ Patrons will get to see it as soon as the subtitles are done, and for everyone else I'm hoping to have it up late this weekend or early next week! In the meantime, here are some screenshots!

I think this video has one of my favourite openings of any I've ever done, hee hee

I decided to have my cake and eat it on the black & white - we start off talking about 19th Century France, so things are grainy and monochrome...

But by the end we're fully into the modern-day and crystal clear HD colour!

You can't really tell from a still image, but I'm using After Effects again to animate the quotes. It adds a lot of extra time to the editing and the software ain't cheap, but I want to put your money on the screen!

I was really pleased with how the footage I shot in my bedroom came out; even though filming with natural light can make continuity tricky it does bring out some nice colours!

I knew I couldn't do this topic justice on my own, so I hired three Jewish script consultants - Katie, Eleanor, and Eric. It was very important to me that I pay them properly for their time and expertise, so a big chunk of the budget went on them. I have a rule when it comes to hiring people to help me and deciding how much to pay them: I always let them say the first number... and then I just pay them that no questions asked lol. They were all super helpful! 

There are complex discussions to be had, but long-time fans will know that I've thread the needle on some sensitive topics before, and I hope I live up to the standard I've set!

Someone ask me about this shot in the post-mortem livestream haha it's one of my favourite bits!

This still image doesn't really do it justice, but I went for a sortof Wes Anderson vibe to introduce key figures, and I think it worked out quite nicely! It keeps things light and cute even when the subject matter is very serious. I'm quite proud of the writing on this one: it's a very serious topic so it was a challenge to make it entertaining, but I think I've more or less managed about as well as could be expected!

I also hired Nina Richards once again to do the credits music, and she has outdone herself for the second month in a row! The song is a synthrock cover of an absolute classic - very appropriate for the topic - and it's layered in with some historical audio that really makes it slap!

I was very grateful that Australian YouTube legend Ian N. Drivel was able to find time in his busy schedule of callout videos and protein shakes to help me with this episode, and even more grateful that since his last appearance on Philosophy Tube he's acquired a less offensive shirt

This video has been a lot of work - it's fifty six minutes long, at the shortest I can make it! I'm quite proud: it's been a technical, intellectual, and artistic challenge and it's come together well! I can't wait to share it with you!
