BTS Pics: "Does It Matter If You Don't "Get" Art?"

Hello lovely Patrons! We just wrapped on my next episode, working title Does It Matter if You Don't "Get" Art? This one is going to be very, very special - here are some pictures from the set!

As the title suggests, we're talking about art - including some famous paintings! Do any of you know what this one is?

Not just paintings though, but literature too - especially Pale Fire

I'm really pleased with this one, the script has a good pace on it and juggles lots of moving parts quite effectively (I hope!)

Specifically we're talking about how artworks come to have meaning, and how we can detect that meaning - how we can "get it"

Do any of you know what this one is?

This is the little monitor that I use to check I'm where I'm meant to be in the shot

I'm sure you can guess which famous artist inspired this look!

Makeup artist Nicki Buglewicz really outdid herself this time, just absolutely incredible work

Here you can see the finished thing up close!

Brian Conway and Vania Monteiro styled the different looks and also brought their A-game!

This look was actually thrown together on the day from some of the other pieces I had rejected during the fitting - Brian persuaded me to alter the script slightly and add a fourth!

It was actually quite serendipitous - there's a whole section of the video about clothing and having a fourth look to do it with was ideal

When Nicki saw this completed look she said "You look like the ULTIMATE influencer!" which... Love it haha.

Here I am nestled in my little corner with my phone and my script stool - no teleprompter on Philosophy Tube!

This was the very end of the day - I'm just checking to make sure we got everything! And you can also see the three different angles from which this look was filmed! We really pushed the boat out!

I can't wait to share this one with you! I'm going to take my time with the editing to get it right and aim to release this one in a couple of weeks rather than rushing - there are some complicated bits to manage, including a whole other day of filming that I won't spoil!

One of my favorite memories is when my Mom & I drove an hour into Boston, MA, in the middle of the night to see a big John Singer Sargent retrospective at 2:30 in the morning. (Due to popular demand, the museum extended the exhibit to be open for thirty-six hours straight. And even at 2:30 AM, the place was PACKED!) And “Madame X” was there, so my memory of that painting is forever bound up with that memory. (As I tell this story now, my loudest thought is, “Man, I hope the museum staff was paid *really* well for their overtime.”)

Looks awesome, can't wait to see it :)

The hype is real! I can’t wait 🤩

Can't recognise where the 4th look comes from... anyone knows?

YES Madame X is my favorite painting!!

Oh, I'm psyched for this! I just had my first gallery showing of my abstracts, so people "not getting" my art is a phenomenon that's top of mind!
