BTS Pics: "Healthcare"
Added 2022-10-29 17:21:21 +0000 UTCHello my lovely Patrons!
I've been on set for the last two days filming the biggest episode of Philosophy Tube yet! I know you had to wait for this one because I was onstage doing The Prince, so I made it a double length episode! The working title is Healthcare: it's about the crisis in the British healthcare system, told through the story of what they did to me personally. In terms of research and just scope, it's the biggest thing I've done yet!

We'll be looking at the work of a few different philosophers. This book is by Stacy Clifford Simplican and it's about the philosophy of disability, but we'll also be looking at the philosophy of complaint, which is a brand new field!

We'll talk about cybernetics and the philosophy of institutional design too - like I said it's a really big episode!

There's a running visual theme inspired by the Joseph Heller novel Catch-22, though you won't need to have read the book to follow along - it'll just be a nice bonus if you know it!

Brian Conway returned to style the outfits and as usual he did an amazing job!

Nicki Buglewicz also returned to do hair and makeup, and was world-class as always!

This video is going to get a little more personal than we have in a while, and pretty dark in places too. I don't make a habit of this, but I'm going to share a little more of "my opinion" than normal just because this is a topic so close to my heart

The research process for this video took so long. The script has 75 citations in it, a new Philosophy Tube record!

SO much work went into this one!

I even hired a props master, Josh Stringer, to make some of the charts and maps I'll be using!

I really hope you all enjoy this video. It's about a really important social issue too, so I hope more than anything that it's able to do some good.

I'm so exhausted after two days of back to back filming. I'm going to rest up tonight and start the editing! I'm hoping to have this video out by next Friday, but I will keep you posted - I'm also really sick with the flu right now so I may need to take things a little slower than usual.
Love,
Abi XXx
