Month End Post: June 2025 Wrap-Up

Summer may have just arrived, but it’s already time to give June a good ol’ Golden Grove goodbye! (The infamous GGG involves throwing a paper airplane at the departee’s head and gifting them a handful of Omi’s candy.)

Let’s take a look at what went down in June! From development, to art, to community and more, we’ve got updates for this month and next. ☀️

Monthly Content Summary:

Community had a big release this month. The Our Life Cookbook was revealed on June 20th, the first day of summer! This cookbook focused strictly on Our Life: Beginnings & Always (and perhaps there could be an Our Life: Now & Forever cookbook post-release!) Community members created recipes based on famous dishes from Sunset Bird (and others that were simply inspired by the game) and we put them together in a snazzy little PDF. We also celebrated Pride Month! Quick reminder that you are so loved here, in the safe space known as the GB Patch community. Thanks for helping create such a warm and inclusive place to hang out, everyone. 💕

Finally, we’ve started a sneak peek video series! On the 10th and 20th of each month, we’ll share a clip from one of the upcoming Moments in Now & Forever. They may be from the beta or may be completely unreleased, so keep an eye out! Here are June’s two videos: Trick or Treat (a Step 1 DLC Moment) and Hide and Seek (a Step 1 regular Moment).

In Now & Forever development:

GB has finished writing the Step 2 Moment, Rhyming Riddles! 

She’s also almost fully finished drafting one of the linked Moments that takes place in Step 2 . There are a few small chunks that she’ll wrap up later, after fully drafting the second linked Moment.

Speaking of linked Moments, she’s written the linked opening that happens no matter which linked Moment you do first. One more update with these – she’s about halfway done with the proper script of the first linked Moment as well. 

And finally, we've received a few of the voiced lines for the Step 1 kids! Very exciting stuff. 🎉

GB is ecstatic to announce that the team has finished programming Step 1! It needs a few more edits and additions based on feedback she’s received, but for the most part, the entire first Step is complete. What a journey it’s been! In art:

Art progress this month consisted of completing the last of the Step 1 scene alterations. A few new pieces include: different times of day for familiar locations, different weather additions, and the final brand new background for the Step 1 time period. 

For character art, a complex Step 2 CG was created!
