(Retired!) A new (experimental!) fix for Build Mode lag on Windows
Added 2022-03-20 02:59:23 +0000 UTC⛔ This program is now retired, sorry! ⛔
We forgot to publish it on the 10th, sorry about that! Now available to all.
Updates:
- 4/28/2022 - Updated to 1.87.40.1030. Please redownload.
- 4/1/2022 - Updated to 1.86.166.1030. Please redownload.
- 3/31/2022 - Updated to 1.86.157. If you are on the 1.85 patch and won't update yet, you can grab the old version here. All old versions will be there going forward, and are considered unsupported.
This is currently in testing!! While we do not expect it to do anything to your game or saves, please make sure you make backups as usual and test on some new saves first.
Description:
This is a new experimental fix that Pancake put together to solve the Build Mode lag. It works similarly to Reshade where you download it and it hooks into the game, though it does not go into the same location as Reshade and can be installed anywhere. Instead, it is a separate program (Windows only) that you start after launching the game. You must run the program each time you reload the game if you want the lag gone, though we are looking for feedback on if you guys would like an auto-launcher.
Please note that the program also requires an update for each patch!
Here is what it looks like in action:

And here's a video of the performance before and after applying the patch while the game is running:
Our guess for the reason Build Mode is lagging is because when the game enters or leaves Build Mode, the game updates something that doesn't seem to properly end. It appears to be refreshing some part of the UI. What this workaround/fix does is to disable that updating.
Notes:
- Some antiviruses might complain that this is a virus, just ignore it.
- It's unclear what the consequences of editing the function like this does, so please backup your saves and test it on a new save file. Thanks!
- Your game version must match the version you download. If you need an older version because you are not on the latest update, you can grab previous versions here. The oldest is 1.85 only, and old versions are considered unsupported.
- In the interest of transparency, here is the source code of the tool.
- This does not conflict with anything.

2022-07-27 22:24:45 +0000 UTCSorry for the late reply, yeah I think that would be a good idea to add some sort of integration! I (MizoreYukii here) will try to message you on Discord soon, I also had a question about a previous offer from a while back so I can do both at the same time now, lol.

2022-07-27 22:04:12 +0000 UTCHope he feels better soon! And include in whichever way. I don’t think it would be possible with the Patreon because a unique link is generated each time. But if it was hosted somewhere then absolutely can do it that way! MizoreYukii I would also like to include your no fade mod because of the performance bump it gives Basically the app I’m making is going to allow editing of the various game files like GraphicsRules and Camera files and so on. But I also want to integrate as many of my Windows performance tweaks as well. And with permission any mods that I feel are beneficial to performance as well. Basically like an all-in-one utility to optimise TS4 We can chat on Discord if you want more details

2022-07-21 06:12:18 +0000 UTCPeople have reported they still have lag without it, so seems it is still needed. Unfortunately, it is not up to date so won't have any effect on updated games, and Pancake is the only one who can update it and he's not been feeling well. Include as in downloading via cache/grab from our page, or including as in it is packaged with the app?

2022-07-21 04:07:15 +0000 UTCIs this still working and relevant? Would love to include it as part of a desktop app I'm making. I could make it auto launch for those who use my app and even execute different versions based on game version and could even auto update it after game version changes (updates)

2022-07-18 09:29:08 +0000 UTCThe build mode lag acts like an invisible overlay upon exiting or entering build-mode. However, I've found that, hitting escape twice will usually clear it, both when entering build-mode, and exiting back to the game. It also seems that these invisible overlays stack, especially when re-entering the lot from another location, and might require pressing escape a few times, to clear them all.
