Weekly Update! (May, week 1)

Providing weekly updates on game development progress, including news, work-in-progress images (to appropriate tiers), and write-ups, as promised!

Update 1: Dexter's Lab Visual Improvements
I've made a crazy amount of changes to Dexter's Lab. The look that I had before was extremely temporary, and while this one is as well, it's still a step in the right direction. There will be more lights, and a shinier look. Again, far from my vision, but enough to make it better. This week specifically was focused on putting the new wall panels in, and working with the lighting.

Update 2: Added a New Character
Inside Dexter's Lab, you'll come across "Glass", a sex-bot that helps around the lab. She'll have full dialogue and you'll have to work with her to achieve progress. She's very sassy and funny at times, but you'll definitely be glad to have her around. She's got an amazing storyline readied-up. This week specifically was focused on writing her dialogue and creating the character model.

Update 3: Added New Puzzle Mechanics
Puzzles were something I wanted from Day 1. However, designing them, programming them, and incorporating them into the story in fun ways took more time that I felt could have been better spent setting up more important game systems, especially during early builds. This week specifically was focused on the mechanics on a second puzzle, and working on its look. I'm so much happier with this puzzle that I decided to include this one and not the first one. The first one I created last week, but I'm going to make it better before it passes my standard bar. You'll encounter the puzzle inside of Dexter's Lab.

Update 4: Game Release Date Compromised
I wanted to have this release out to you guys by the end of this week (May 7), however that won't be possible. Work has kicked my ass this week and I'll have to put in some extra time which means I have to push the release back another week. It pains me to no end to miss deadlines - one because I'm excited for you, my Medici, to see the progress that I've made, but also because missing deadlines is just against my nature. But, unfortunately that's the nature of the beast.

As always, please keep your comments and ideas coming! I can't tell you how much the project depends on things like that - especially hearing your passion come through your words for a project like this!

P.S. I still owe you guys a project roadmap. It's coming :)

Take care!

That's fantastic news! Thank you very much for its inclusion and this reply.

Yes! The plan is to have a rudimentary save system in place so you don’t have to restart each game. I didn’t post it on the update since I haven’t started any real work on it this past week. But it will definitely be in place before you play it again.

Thank you for the update, it looks like a lot is in store in the upcoming release. Is the save function development going well? Right now, not starting the game from scratch each time I might have to stop playing before the full run of current content is a detraction from an amazing gaming experience.
