The problem is that you are thinking of asauchi as a mold, they are not a mold. A mold is something that you remove after molding, instead the asauchi is more like a blank canvas, you don't remove the canvas out of a painting, it is a part of it, as much as it is the paint on top.

Also it's very interesting that Masaki says that there's someone who needs me down there as she was falling down the hollow hole.
