I disagree with you. If a dictator tells you that he's doing it for the right reasons, if he tells you that his existence prevents a worse tragedy, you aren't obligated to accept his premise. He may even *think* that he's telling the truth, he may not be deliberately misleading, but my natural inclination is to tell said dictator to kick rocks. I'll choose uncertainty over a known evil every time.
