I agree with you. I was just so frustrated at Nate's decisions this season but I am looking forward on what they will do with the character.

How after Jaime scores the “prick” goal, Ted moves Nate out of the way so he can hug Roy… You can see all of Nate’s insecurities coming up. Throughout the season, Ted obviously needs to focus on himself, but Nate just feels neglected. Any time Ted doesn’t notice him, he sees Ted acting like his father. I don’t like Nate much this season, but they do a great job of showing how his growing aggression is him trying to avoid being embarrassed and overlooked. I am really looking forward to how he grows next season. I don’t think he will just be a villain. This show is too well written to just give up on Nate.
