"Corinthian leather" is not a real thing and Corinth is not famous for its leather. The term was invented as a marketing ploy by an ad agency working for Chrysler back in the 70's when actor Ricardo Montalbán was the spokesperson for their TV commercials. "Rich Corinthian leather" just rolled off his tongue. The leather was actually made at a plant in Newark, NJ.
