Reading over the holidays...

These are some of my favorite books! I love Sarah Jio and Laurie Notaro :) what are some of yours? I’m looking at suggestions for holiday reading... there is nothing like curling up with a good book! I was part of a book club for a couple of years and I miss the experience. Maybe in the coming years I’ll get back into or even start one!

Big fan of fictional history. My favorite book of all times is The Memoirs of Cleopatra written by Margaret George. Written in first person. I have loved everything she’s written. Not to be confused with Gregory who wrote The Other Boleyn Girl. She’s good too but I think Margaret George writes better. https://g.co/kgs/Vsb6Xw

i think you should look into book subscription boxes. i came accross one yesterday for my country ( canada) but hopefully the us has something like that too. its like the monthly make up boxes some people subscribe to but its books, book marks, and other book related things

Donna Tartt!!!! Margaret Atwood! P.G. Wodehouse, Oscar Wilde, Libba Bray and Ben Pobjie - learn about Australia and die laughing. :) Those two little books I sent are jolly fun. :) Enjoy Kati and thank you!

If you want a light read "Stay" by Allie Larkin is one of my favs or "Lost Dogs and Lonely Hearts" by Lucy Dillon (Book nowhere near as sad as title makes it sound) is also a really nice read. Both are kinda predictable, but still give a nice fuzzy feeling

Ukkonenkoira

I asked for Ariel and Collosus by Sylvia Plath for Christmas.

introverse

One of my favourites to get stuck into is the night circus by Erin morgenstern, and the forgotten garden or the secret keeper by Kate Morton....I recently read a book called make your home Among Strangers by jennine capo crucet which I loved. I have SO many favourites but I love gothic literature and it’s not always everyone else’s cup of tea, so those are a bit more light! In terms on non fiction, the centre Cannot Hold by elyn r. Saks is AMAZING!

Katie Burton

I love Possible Side Effects by Augusten Burroughs. And A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith is my favorite book ever!

libby

Anything by Augusten Burroughs. I also loved The Girl I Left Behind and West of Kabul East of New York.

Jamie Hanson

Also anything by Tess Gerritsen

Tina Bounds

Some of the oldies but goodies that I like: To Kill a Mockingbird, In Cold Blood by Truman Capote, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (or just watch the wonderful PBS version of the movie)

Tina Bounds

Great idea to read something that's not a self-help book. We all need a break now and then. I'd like to finish up the last 2 books I have of the Earthsea Chronicles by Ursula Le Guin, hopefully this year or in early 2018.

Kate G.

I love rereading Harry Potter too!

2) Can you start a wellness/mental health/social issue related book club??? I would love to be part of a Kinion Book club and you could do livestreams dedicated to discussing the books we read!

Kayla Clare

My favourite book this year was hands down "Turtles All The Way Down" - but I might be a bit biased as John is my favourite author and I've been waiting for him to release another book in 6 years.. ;) I also really love re-reading Harry Potter, especially in the wintertime for some reason. I used to read SO MUCH but haven't for a few years, so I'm wayyy behind on so many books I'd like to read ... Slowly but surely getting back into it, though!

1) Book recommendations: The Night Circus, The Wonder, Difficult Women, When My Brother Was an Aztec, Night Sky with Exit Wounds

Kayla Clare

I'm working on reading all of Agatha Christie books now. Perfect reading material for a long commute each day!

I just finished reading "Station Eleven" by Emily St. John Mandel. I don't usually read science fiction, but I thought it was really good! If you like silly memoir/true story type books, I love "Let's Pretend this Never Happened" by Jenny Lawson. She also wrote "Furiously Happy: A Funny Book about Horrible Things" about her own struggles with mental illness. She's pretty great (and I love her sense of humor!).

Abigail Chappell

I read random series books...nothing yours! Like books by Jeff Lindsay, he wrote the Dexter series and they're amazing! The fifth book in the series Dexter is delicious actually made me feel faint it was so creepy..what a author!

Sarah ansdell

My favourite book is The Wind-up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami. I can get lost in that book endlessly. He writes so well! I like Sarah Jio a lot too, Kristina McMorris is sort of similar in style, her book The Edge of Lost is ace.

Cornflake Girl

It's been awhile since I've read a book that wasn't self help. I love to read for enjoyment & I think I'll start a new book. Thanks for the idea, Kati

Ive always wanted to do a book club but was too scared to join one. I love the thought of it but the social anxiety of going to a group if strangers was too scary.
