That moment with Inara was bad ass!! We absolutely loved it. I feel like it added so much edge to Inara's character... and it was gratifying to see Saffron face consequences for her actions haha. -Hannah

Haymer was by no means 'such a nice guy'. Yo-Saff-Bridge wasn't lying about his past work for the Alliance during the War. He was a war criminal who was never charges as such, having been a key player in the Alliance victory. He would make a good villain in fact, if maybe a bit less interesting than Y-S-B or Niska. Your reactions in this one were definitely priceless... Toy, did I catch you staring? ;P Every creator I've seen so far has gotten the same surprise when they see Inara looking all fine and fancy, pointing the Lassiter at Y-S-B. Great swerve by the writers! Got me too of course! On to The Message.

Mal had to bring YoSafBridge with him as they fled because otherwise she would have immediately told the authorities about him. He needed to keep her with him long enough that he could escape before that happened. If the show didn't get cancelled, I'm sure she would have made another appearance at some point. What a missed opportunity!
