I mean his movies are not first and foremost comedies but they're satirical as hell. There has always been this wonderful irony about this talented European director coming to America and using American money to tell American's how fucked up they are and they turn around and eat it up. Now he's not necessarily unique in doing this, but its the clarity of his vision (pointed out by Abby, his style is both clear and consistent) and coming from a foreigner's perspective that's interesting. I think what makes his movies so compelling is that they are so ridiculous but also very sincere. The cooperate guys are outrageous...or are they? It's a a weird fine line. But coming back to the comedy thing, just watch a couple short clips of him during the 80s or 90s and it might give you an idea of his sensibility. He's a true eccentric wildman artist, but clearly a sharp mind and a wicked talent. Reaction wise your obv limited in what will work, but at least do Basic Instinct, THEE epitome of the 90s erotic thriller. Yeesh every time I try and write a quick thing it keeps coming out lol. Great filmmaker 👌
