A Sad Announcement

Hi, everyone, it's Jackson here, with some incredibly sad news.

Em's dad is currently at home on hospice care. He's been suffering from terminal cancer for a while, and nurses say that he has less than a week. Understandably, that means we won't be able to record this weekend, and possibly for a few weekends more.

This would be heartbreaking under the best of circumstances, but we live in a world where this tragedy is multiplied tenfold by the failures of the structures around us. The practicalities of death in America are obscene, and in addition to losing a father, Em is facing losing their home, their stability, their ability to function, thanks to the financial disaster this is creating. If you can, please consider donating to their Go Fund Me as they attempt to recover from this tragedy. And if you can't, then please share it as far as you can. I love Em and Destiny so much and I just want them to be okay.

As for how this affects Abnormal Mapping, what this means is that a few shows are going to be delayed. We have both finished reading the first Shatnerverse novel, and so we will hopefully be able to record SOS later in the month. Gundam will resume as soon as Em is able to record again, and Amory Score isn't recording today but Molly and I will be recording next weekend in order to make up for the gap in other shows.

All of those shows will be resumed in due time with minimal disruption, but unfortunately due to timing, our weekly Discovery podcasts won't be so lucky. I know a lot of you loved our episodes for the first half of the season and are really excited for them to continue, but it's looking like we won't be able to follow this section of the season - at least for a few weeks. There is an outside possibility we figure something out - maybe we decide to find an hour, maybe we find some guest hosts - but for now, on all fronts, it is best to assume that things will be dark for a few weeks until proven otherwise. This is a bedroom operation and we need to take care of ourselves in this difficult time.

We hope you understand, and are able to keep supporting! Your support is why we're able to make these at all in the face of our situations and we'll be fully back in action before long.

PS: Over on my side of the Atlantic, in addition to being really scared for my friends, I'm entering my final term of university - which means I'm currently busy as hell, otherwise I would be scrambling to provide some interim content. I have a crucial assignment due on Thursday that I need to (try to) focus on, and over the next few months I have my dissertation and three other large assignments to complete.

That said, depending on where things are at next week, I will hopefully be back with a Patreon letter and maybe I'll set up a solo stream for everyone to hang out in. It's going to be a light few weeks, but I will do my best to provide some cover on my end as we all give Em and Destiny the space they need to grieve and recover.

Thank you so much for understanding, and once again Em's Go Fund Me is here if you are able to donate or share it.

-Jackson

Completely understand, sending my heartfelt sympathies to Em, and unconditionally saying that I never want people to see churning out content as more important than dealing with the important stuff that's going on in their lives. Looking forward to hearing what you think of discovery if and when you get are in a place where it feels positive to yous to share it with us and good luck to both of you for the next few weeks. Xx
