You're a mother whose 18-year-old daughter is pushing the boundaries: she's starting to misbehave more and more, especially now that she's trying to fit in with the "popular" crowd. That was all annoying enough...But when you got this note, you knew something had to be done.

You read it for the third time, your eyes stopping again at the same line.

...as per the student handbook, if your daughter's truancy persists, our school will have to take extended measures, up to and including in-school-suspension...

As you read, you smirk slightly to yourself. You've never really understood why the solution to a student not coming to class would ever be to suspend her from coming to class. But of course, that's not actually what the school wants to do, you think to yourself, setting your reading glasses back down. They want me to handle it.
