CODING HELP REQUEST: Looking for Help with Twine/Tweego for Puttsdale Update!
Added 2024-01-02 20:54:07 +0000 UTCHAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!
It's 2024, and I'm super pumped to update Welcome to Puttsdale! To my knowledge, at 200,000 words, Puttsdale is the biggest spanking text adventure online.
In fact...it's too big.
Some of you know that I've been working on Twine (Harlowe 2.1) to make this story for years now, and since I'm a writer and not a coder I sometimes (often) run into trouble. At this point, the file is just too large to edit in Twine, so I've been looking for a solution; I think I've found one, but it seems to require more coding knowledge than I have.

Basically, what I need is the ability to separate Welcome to Puttsdale into several files that can interact with each other when I publish them. That way, I can make a new quest in a new file without having to work in my original file. Ideally, I'd be able to have one .html file link directly to the next one, so when you click "Continue" you're actually hopping over to a new file while keeping the variables the same. It sounds like what I need to do is use a compiler to tie together several .txt or .html files. But I've been trying to figure out how to use Tweego and...well, I'm just not getting it.
I'm still looking into it with some other helpful people online, but I figured I'd also ask my wonderful patrons. You guys probably know more about Javascript and compiling .txt files than I do (it wouldn't take much) so I'm reaching out here to say: if you know ANYTHING at all about Tweego, Extwee, twine-utils, or any other way to accomplish what I'm talking about here, please message me!
Figured it was worth a shot! Either way, new Puttsdale content is coming soon, so STAY TUNED :)

Scarlett Moon was a pretty massive game as well. It was a text based game too. I'm not really sure what engine it was using tho... It seemed to handle the size pretty well, but unsure if thats an engine you want to try (if you can figure out what it is lol)
