Morgan is out front in her silver Mercedes Benz, wearing sunglasses despite how overcast it is. As Eliza opens the door with a soft ka-chuck, Morgan is giving the eye to a broad-shouldered boy standing on the school steps wearing a varsity jacket.

Eliza tucks her bag between her legs. “L-Let’s go,” she says, staring at her feet.

Morgan turns and looks at her as though she only just realized Eliza was there. Her perfect blonde hair spills over her bare shoulders in golden curls, and Eliza can smell her bubblegum.

“Are you still wearing them?” Morgan says. 

“Y-Yes!” Eliza exclaims, “And they’re digging up my butt like crazy so let’s go!”

Morgan grins. “Good,” she replies.

She shifts the Mercedes into drive and cuts around a school bus to take them home.

This is Chapter 1 of a novel I've been working on for a while -- it's pretty weird and may not be everyone's thing, but I'm having fun with it!!!

Eliza is the 20-year-old daughter of a strict Christian missionary/demon hunter. Her older step-sister, Morgan, is a witch who enlists her help in using dark magic by blackmailing her with an embarrassing secret. Plus, something paranormal is happening in their city, and only Eliza seems to know what it is....
