Out of Print Games I'm Glad I Found (Exclusive Video)

Hi patrons!

I hope you enjoyed last week's exclusive Essen video. Today we've got the exclusive video voted on my Voter LOLs patrons - The Out of Print Games I'm Glad I Found.

These are all the games I hunted down when they were out of print, that were actually worth finding and have stayed in my collection. Plus at the end, I mention a few OOP games I'm still on the hunt for.

This is officially last month's exclusive video, so expect another one later this month!

Actually yours,

Jon

I have been trying to get Tsuro for over 12 years. Finally my friends got it for me (imported from the Scandinavian countries) for my wedding gift. Even though the game is short and simple, I love the theme and the design and I am super happy I have it in my collection. :)

You didn't include Stockpile or Las Vegas? Because of you I've been looking for copies of those for ages. Haven't been able to find one for less than $140.

Interesting video, as always! I really like The Bloody Inn. As I understand it, it was originally by Pearl Games, which was bought by Asmodee, then Asmodee closed down that line in 2023. I was lucky to get a copy from a local seller for a very reasonable price. It's such an interesting mechanic with a uncommon theme and great art; everyone I've taught it to has loved it. https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/180593/the-bloody-inn

Jon, my experience with Gumshoe. Have owned it twice. The first time I bought it because it was from the same company that made the original Consulting Detective. Enjoyed it a lot. The added time mechanism was great: you had a week's worth of time to spend on as many cases as you could handle. A drive to a racetrack outside San Francisco, for example, would use up 4 hours of time, but might get you access to a jockey who could have key information. 8 hours per working day. But there was a downside to Gumshoe. It didn't always give me the options I wanted. For example, I tailed a person to a rough-looking bar. I wanted to wait outside and see where he went next, but the game gave me only two options: 1.) leave or 2.) follow him inside. I didn't want either. Chose to go in and read that I was immediately knocked unconscious, and lost 3 hours of time, and lost the trail. So I sold the game. Years later, the itch returned and bought it again. Turned out to be the first edition, which had so many errors in the numbering of paragraphs and missing text that some crimes were unsolvable. My first purchase must have been a second edition. Somewhere online I found an errata sheet, but inserting the corrected texts into the clue book was tedious. Ended selling it again.
