Despite taunts of lunacy, Ray builds a baseball diamond on his land, supported by his wife, Annie (Amy Madigan). Afterward, the ghosts of great players start emerging from the crops to play ball, led by "Shoeless" Joe Jackson. But, as Ray learns, this field of dreams is about much more than bringing former baseball greats out to play.

The best moment in your reaction was when you realized the kid was Moonlight. Having them pick him up as a teenage hitchhiker was brilliant storytelling. Like you said, the scene with Ray throwing the ball with his deceased father was the perfect ending. It brings me to tears every time.

2023-02-26 21:10:20 +0000 UTCThat sure don't make them like that anymore! That final scene gets me every single time. Apparently, Tom Hanks was first offered the role of "Ray" but turned it down. They are now working on adapting this into a television series. In 2020 and 2022, MLB held a few regular season games in that very cornfield! And the composer for the musical score, James Horner, also did the score for "Willow", "Avatar", "Titanic", and "Braveheart".
