Oh wow! Thank you so much for reacting to this David! Loved your reaction especially during the death scene of that female whale and the baby whale. Don't worry. No actual whales were harmed during filming. The baby whale died on impact when it hit the deck and got lost at sea when it got washed off the deck. That was Robert Carradine at the beginning who was saved from the shark by the whale and later got killed by the whale. At the end after killing Captain Nolan, the whale went underwater underneath the ice to drown himself after finishing his revenge mission and having nothing else to live for after loosing the love of his life. Hence, that is why there is that love song at the end. LOL! Richard Harris who played Captain Nolan played Professor Dumbledore in the first two Harry Potter films and also was in GLADIATOR where he played the father of Joaquin Phoenix. Oscar winning music composer Ennio Morricone's score is so beautiful! I have the soundtrack CD of this film! Michael Anderson who directed Orca also directed AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS (1956) which won the Best Picture Oscar. Thank you again for reacting to this David! I am glad I gave you this movie to add to your collection! Sorry there was no Orca t-shirt! LOL! 😄

Jaws has nothing on Orca

The main orcas used for filming were trained animals from Marineland of the Pacific and Marine World Africa (Six Flags Discovery Kingdom), though artificial rubber whales were also used. These models were so lifelike that several animal rights activists blocked the trucks transporting them, confusing them for real orcas. The shark used early in the film was captured by noted shark hunter Ron Taylor
