Westworld (1973) *Reaction*

Westworld  is a futuristic theme park where paying guests can pretend to be  gunslingers in an artificial Wild West populated by androids. After  paying a sizable entrance fee, Blane (James Brolin) and Martin (Richard  Benjamin) are determined to unwind by hitting the saloons and shooting  off their guns. But when the system goes  haywire and Blane is killed in a duel with a robotic gunslinger (Yul  Brynner), Martin's escapist fantasy suddenly takes on a grim reality.

Thanks David for reacting to this! Both John Carpenter and Arnold Schwarzenegger said they were inspired by Yul Brynner's Gunslinger! With John Carpenter of course, he created Michael Myers and with Arnold Schwarzenegger the Terminator. Michael Crichton later directed COMA (1978) which I gave you and he wrote the JURASSIC PARK novel. There was a sequel to WESTWORLD called FUTUREWORLD (1976) and of course later the series Westworld which I have not seen yet. Yul Brynner is actually a Best Actor Oscar winner for playing the King of Siam in the musical THE KING AND I (1956). The cowboy outfit he wears in this movie is the same as the one he wore in the Western THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN. The same town set used in Westworld is the same one used in BLAZING SADDLES (1974). Well, thanks again for reacting to this movie and giving it a four out of five stars! I'm quite sure this was a huge improvement over the previous film I asked you to react to! LOL! 😄
