In an interview once, Meryl Streep said she auditioned for the role of Dwan. She said Dino De Laurentes actually said she wasn’t beautiful enough for the role. She kinda laughed it off in the interview but you could tell it still bothered her.

I was hoping you’d recognize Jessica. Just before her name appeared in the beginning credits you looked down. This was her very first film. Dino De Laurentis discovered her.

I watched it 3 more times, one of my top 10 reactions ever. Gorillas 🦍 can’t throw overhand. Humans are the only primates that can throw overhand good. 😃😃 but I guess movie doesn’t have be accurate. I lived in New York and went to the twin world trade building. If Kong fell off of them, there wouldn’t be nothing left but blood and guts🥲🥲🥲🥲

Oh man, that's awful! I have to look that up and check.

There's a behind the scenes story where Carlo Rambaldi convinced Dino De Laurentiis that he could build a 50 foot animatronic Kong so Dino coughed up an obscene amount of cash to make it happen. It did get built, but the movement just wasn't there, so they ended up going with Rick Baker in the monkey suit. You can still see the life-sized Kong in the movie, but just for mere seconds. We see it briefly when Kong is in the cage at the stadium and the shot where Kong is dropping the pieces of the cage right after he escapes.

John King

There's still some Kong flicks. There's a sequel to the original 1933 film called "Son of Kong". There are terrible but fun ones made in the 1960s in Japan titled "King Kong Vs Godzilla" and "King Kong Escapes". Also, Dino returned to Kong 10 years later in a sequel to this film called "King Kong Lives". Yes, Kong somehow survived getting shot 742 times and falling 1,689 feet and, you know, literally DYING. John Guillermin returned to direct, but Lange and Bridges did not come back, replaced by Linda Hamilton and some schlub. It's very silly, but again, still fun.

John King

Hey Jason how come when they won that special Oscar for King Kong they didn’t credit Rick Baker, I bet he was 😡

Heck ya. That big arm also cost 1 million to make. Jessica Lang was afraid it would crush🫢🫢🫢

Great reaction David! Yes, DEEP THROAT was a hardcore porn film from 1972! That was what saved Jessica Lange from the explosion on the yacht! LOL! 😆 After Dino De Laurentiis produced ORCA in 1977, he suggested doing an ORCA VS. KING KONG but that idea was scrapped! LOL! 😄 Well, you got to see Jessica Lange in her feature film debut here who would later win the Best Actress Oscar for BLUE SKY. I hope you get to watch Jeff Bridges in John Carpenter's STARMAN (1984) where he got a Best Actor Oscar nomination for playing an alien who falls in love with Karen Allen from RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK. Director John Guillermin had another box office hit with this movie only two years after he had another box office hit with THE TOWERING INFERNO. For other Dino De Laurentiis films, you should see BARBARELLA (1968) and FLASH GORDON (1980)! 😁

Jason Dominguez

lol i picked another goodie!

Brooklyn Lady Ellie

Yes that was really Rick Baker in the ape suit David! He even designed the prosthetics for the suit he had to wear with help from Carlo Rombaldi who also designed E.T.

Jason Dominguez

omg omg yayyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!

Brooklyn Lady Ellie

Wait....Rick baker was IN the suit? Wtf?
