Omg I’m so late to this but ughhh The Other Side of the Door really is that girl 😭 What you said about men not getting the concept is so true. I’ve seen people referring to this song as a “toxic bop” and (although yes, maybe the intentional miscommunication is a little bit toxic 🤭) there can only be so many times where you beg them to prioritize you or at least ACT like they care, and eventually it comes to a point where you do just want to slam the door and tell them to leave as a last ditch effort to see if they’re willing to fight to keep you at all. But I do love the growth that you can see when you compare teenage Taylor in this song to You’re Losing Me where she is a lot more direct and straight up communicates that he needs to make her a priority or else she’ll to leave

Back in 2008, no record company would let a "new artist" release 27 tracks! No way. During Superstar, you forgot she wasn't really famous yet. She had only released her 1st album when these songs were written.

2025-02-23 01:36:51 +0000 UTCI'm glad you did Fearless next after watching the Speak Now tour. I'm sad you didn't care for Untouchable, but I'm glad you still enjoyed the album overall. For me the first half of the album is strong and it eventually gets so samey. This is my first time hearing the Taylor version so it improved some of the monotony of the second half. I think her improved inflections on lyrics gives the multiple guitar songs some needed variation. I still prefer the original The Way I Loved You and Hey Stephen, but I listened to those songs a lot in childhood.

She still didn’t know if she would have another hit, or sell another album when she wrote this album. Can you imagine a time when Taylor didn’t know what WE know would eventually happen? but she didn’t. So, she was young writing Fearless and not terribly famous yet. This album spent 11 weeks at #1, and nearly 18 months in the top 10. It’s the most awarded country album in country music history. It’s diamond certified. She did this song as a thank you to Scott Borchetta (owner of Big Red Machine) because it was his favorite song

I don’t rate fearless high in her discography but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have bangers! You’re not sorry will always be my favorite 🫶🏻 Btw Today Was A Fairytale was written for the movie Valentines Day in which Taylor stars in as a love struck teenager in love with her boyfriend (taylor lautner). So its why it ends on a more happy note because its just added as a deluxe track

You gotta watch Journey To Fearless tour doc and see baby Tay headlining her first concert tour Also the football line, we have been connecting the invisible strings between Tayor and travis through so many songs in her catalogue. Taylor allegedly had a crush on someone and her parents didnt approve of him so she went to her room, slammed the door and wrote Love Story in 20 minutes because she wanted to give Romeo and Juliet a happy ending! And in the Eras Tour this was the proposal songs for so many fans and Taylor even acklnowledged this and said she was so happy to witness these moments from the stage. Very astute observation about the car thing too. Taylor has a lot of songs using the car trope that can signify the status of the relationship. Almost all her older songs using car have her in the passenger seat, but for the songs in her newer albums, she's the one driving(taking control maybe?)

Taylor & her mom in interviews said she wrote Love Story in about 20 minutes after her parents disapproved of a boy she liked so she ran to her room & slammed the door (I’m guessing 😛) and reimagined the ending to Romeo & Juliet. SOOOO many people got engaged at the Eras Tour during the “ he knelt to the ground & pulled out a ring” part, you can watch compilations on YouTube, they’re adorable 💗

Also about fifteen i think it’s interesting to know that abigail is a real person and they are still best friends to this day !

2025-02-19 13:53:31 +0000 UTCI know it doesn't fit because of "got away by some mistake", but I like to think of The Way I Loved You as describing just one single relationship, not two: They start out young, inexperienced, everything constantly slipping out of control, but, as Taylor would say, in screaming color. Over time they learn to avoid the blow-ups and how to interact in a mature way. But, they also lose sight of each other as real, emotional, authentic, messy people, and at some point their relationship is basically reduced to playing the role of well-adjusted girlfriend and boyfriend, going through the motions. And now she's pining for when there was actual connection and emotional intimacy, even it kept going wrong. So either they can find a balance, try to be more open and vulnerable without going completely off the rails, or she needs to accept that it was actually never a real connection, just explosive chemistry.
