Exclusive Delta Warriors Mini Story: Average Day for a King:

Asgore walked across the sidewalk of a Hometown street, Hurrying along in a light speed walk.

He wore a slightly minty green floral short sleeve, with his cargo shorts, pockets clattering with loose seeds with every pawed step.

In one hand he delicately held a bundle of flowers, with a small satchel tucked under his arm.

He continued his walk waving through the window of the patrons of QC’s as he walked across the street.

It was a nice day, Middle of the afternoon with a gentle breeze that swayed the tree’s limbs.

He finally turned into the hospital, waving at the nurse working the desk as she waved back.

Until finally reaching Rudy’s room, In which he sat down next to his friend as he greeted him.

The room was cold and sterile, The AC was on the fullest of strength. Slowly rumbling through the vent.

“*Hey! I was wondering when you’d show.”

Rudy exclaimed

“*Hope I am not too late.”

Asgore replied placing down his bag and reaching for a vase of flowers that was on the table next to an alarm clock.

Asgore removed the old flowers and replaced them with a few he had in his bundle.

“*I’ll have to take my nap in a few minutes, Doctors orders or something.”

Rudy replied sarcastically

“*So how are ya man?”

Rudy asked looking at his buddy

“*Oh well you know.”

Asgore answered

“*Just trying to uh… Well, one step at a time.”

Asgore confessed

“*Still don’t really know what to do huh?”

Rudy asked

“*No…”

Asgore answered honestly

Rudy was one of the few people Asgore could be honest to, And one of the fewer who wouldn’t shame him for doing so.

“*You just gotta… Look I know it can be-“

Rudy spoke before he began coughing

The coughing shook the reindeer to his core until it finally halted.

“*Akh.”

Rudy said clearing his throat

“*What was I saying? Uh… Yeah I remember. You just need to let go of some things man.”

Rudy told Asgore

“*I mean it’s not doing you any good to think about Toriel or Asriel all the time man.”

Rudy continued

“*Sometimes you can’t beg for everyone to forgive you and make it alright.”

Rudy said

“*I did everything I could for them Rudy.”

Asgore said

“*I know Asgore, I know. It’s rough and sad. But… You still have Kris don’t you? Kris is a great person.”

Rudy replied

“*I probably had nothing to do with that…”

Asgore admitted

“*Come on Asgore, Carol isn’t that mean, I know she didn’t hurt you that easily. You think so little of yourself man.”

Rudy answered pulling himself forward with a great deal of effort

“*I know you hate when you’re told stuff like this, But you need to be a man, And that doesn’t mean become a brick. You just need to be strong Asgore.”

Rudy continued

“*I don’t think I can be… Not like that… I was way too young when I became a dad…”

Asgore said saddened

“*You were in your mid 80s Asgore, You just need to be there for Kris.”

Rudy answered

“*Kris is so much like you, do you realize that? So much like you. They will always need your help with something. They’re young. You have so much to give this whole town. You shouldn’t be holed up in that flower shop.”

Rudy said

“*What about Asriel?…”

Asgore asked

“*He’s off in college, probably in the same amount of trouble you were in back during our college days, Let him be young for as long as he can.”

Rudy answered

“*Rudy… You were always so much… better at this sort of thing… Being a dad… being a good man. I just… I was never cut out for this.”

Asgore replied

“*You haven’t failed either of them Asgore, You know that. No matter how many harsh emails Carol sends or staples to your doorframe.”

Rudy continues

“*Being a parent is so tough. Your whole world can be flipped upside down. But you can’t give up.”

Rudy spoke

“*With Asriel at college, Kris and their friends running off to, Angel knows where for most of the day. I know it can seem like you… Don’t really need to do anything else. But there is always something you can do. Always.”

Rudy said

With that a clock rang.

“*Guess that’s all the time we got-“

Rudy once again broke out into a coughing fit

This one wasn’t as harsh, And it passed much faster.

“*Look, just take what I said and think about it alright?”

Rudy said

“*Sure thing.”

Asgore replied

Asgore kneeled down giving his friend a huge hug before leaving him to his nap, Turning the light off on the way out.

Asgore walked out of the hospital with his bag and remaining flowers in hand. Walking back the way he came.

He saw some people walking around, Mostly in and out of the store and he saw two students walk into QC’s. He waved to the two of them who waved back.

The wind was still blowing gently as he walked across the street from QC’s towards the apartment complex.

He made his way across town and walked up to an apartment door, which he gently knocked on.

Alphys quickly opened it as she scooted a footstool away from the door.

“*Oh, Hey Asgore-“

She quickly said before noticing the flowers in his hand

“*Nooooo. Asgore we talked about this. No more giving people flowers.”

Alphys said

“*You need to sell these.”

Alphys spoke

“*I know… I’m not giving them all away I really am selling them. You’re just my friend.”

Asgore replied

Alphys sighed

“*Alright, but no more freebies for me.”

Alphys seceded letting Asgore inside her apartment

There was just barely enough clearance in Alphys’ home for Asgore to fit,

Her home was covered from wall to wall in shelves. Littered neatly in Anime, Manga, Figurines. Some spaces had posters, Nicely framed and behind glass. No doubt hoping she will be able to have them signed some day.

Her living room was modest, It had a very very pale off white color palette, With small tinges of orange on some of the pillows and the odd throw blanket. Her TV stand and shelves had a nice warm wood finished that was akin to a burnt sienna.

She sat down on the couch as Asgore reached into his satchel handing her something

“*Oh you finished this one?”

Alphys asked reaching out for the CD case

“*I did, I enjoyed it for the most part. The pink and white cat was really confusing and off putting however.”

Asgore confessed

“*What? You mean this little demon?”

Alphys said holding a plush of said pink and white cat

“*What else would you recommend?”

Asgore asked taking the CD case back and walking towards her shelves

“*Well you feeling for more action or comedy this time around?”

Alphys asked picking lint off the plush before placing it down

“*Action would be nice. Something simple too. Not nearly as creepy.”

Asgore answered scanning through the collection before putting the CD back in its proper place

Asgore looked through the collection of CDs before blindly picking one out from the shelf

“*How about this Anime?”

Asgore asked

“*Alphys looked at it, Uh i mean I guess that one is… Alright? Technically isn’t an Anime though cus it was made by a company east of the border? So it doesn’t really count to some people.”

Alphys spoke without actually answering the question, A common thing she does

This would annoy many but not Asgore

“*Is it any good?”

Asgore questioned looking at the case

“*Uh, Only like the first three seasons, Then it just kinda gets worse.”

Alphys answered

“*So why do you have the full collection?”

Asgore said puzzled as he looked at the shelf

“*Well uh… Look I got invested and it was like a train crash. I couldn’t look away or let go.”

Alphys replied

“*Right… I’ll take the first 3 seasons then, See how it goes for me.”

Asgore said putting them in his bag

Asgore finally sat down on the couch

“*So uh… You see Kris today?”

Alphys asked

“*No, But on monday they did look at me and nod. So that was nice.”

Asgore said with a genuine smile

“*It’s nice to know you still get to appreciate Kris as if nothing much has changed.”

Alphys said

“*Mhm, Kris has always been like that. Love them for that. Just so easy and independent.”

Asgore chuckled

Asgore chuckled some more remembering something

“*Funny Kris story to share?”

Alphys asked

“*Mhm, This is from when they were very little.”

Asgore started

“*I mean like kindergarten. Super duper small Kris. Just figuring out numbers. So when I worked at the station on weekends, Around Christmas. I would tell Kris and Asriel to go get us some hot chocolates. Now this was the Weekends so Toriel was often doing School stuff or with Carol so it was just the kids and I. So I would give Asriel some money to get some hot chocolate and bring it back.”

Asgore said

Alphys leaned in actively listening

“*So, Somehow Kris figured out that it takes at least five dollars to get three cups of hot chocolate. And so whenever they were at school, And recess broke out. Kris had, Somehow, Got ahold of five dollars. And would sneak away from the school without Toriel noticing. And would make a mad dash from the School to QC’s. Pay for the three hot chocolates, pay in full and get the cash back. And that was it.”

Asgore continued

“*QC, would obviously call me, Saying something like “Hey, What’s going on? Is Asriel still with you? Kris showed up by themselves.” And I would go “What? What do you mean?” So I had to rush over to QC’s and see a small little Kris, wrapped up in their jacket and sweater, with their earmuffs. Who had already destroyed a hot chocolate by the time I got there. And held up one to me as if they were supposed to be there. And nothing has been going on.”

Asgore said with a hearty chuckle

“*Obviously we had to rush back to School to try to play it off. As if nothing had happening before Recess had ended. But I’ll never forget that. Just the smartest back then.”

Asgore said

“*You have a good kid Asgore,They’ve always been one of my best students you know? Never been such a troublemaker like that however.”

Alphys replied

“*I know, I’m thankful for that. I kinda have a love hate relationship with how much they’ve grown. Just reminds me I’m getting older you know?”

Asgore spoke

“*I mean hey, Getting old is not so bad sometimes. Just means you’re moving one step at a time right?”

Alphys replied.

They sat there together, Continuing to chat until Asgore had to go home, And Alphys had to rest.

Just another day for Asgore.
