Exclusive Delta Warriors Mini Story: Time Capsule

Berdly had recently purchased a metal detector online. Every once in a while him and his friends go out to look for treasure and have some lunch later

They’ve walked around outside for a while, Mostly sticking close to the town and making sure that they had a good chance of finding something

“*So what’s our haul this month?”

Noelle asked sitting on a rock looking cute as possible

Susie picked through her small collection of things she dug up

“*Some old coins, A nail, half a dozen bottle caps.”

Susie replied displeased with the junk

“*I’ve found nothing of value either.”

Kris answered

“*Lets keep searching guys, There’s gotta be something of value in a town like this!”

Berdly said determined to find anything that could be deemed noteworthy

They kept following Berdly around

Berdly moved the metal detector side to side on the ground, they stuck close by to sidewalks and walking around buildings.

“*This is ridiculous man, there's nothing in this town.”

Susie said

“*This place is rich with history Susie, I am sure there are many treasures that are yet to be discovered.”

Kris replied

Berdly walked behind the Library

As he did there was a beeping sound almost immediately

Susie took a shovel and placed it into the ground she immediately hit something hard

“*Oh, that sounds promising!”

Noelle exclaimed

Susie positioned the shovel and moved a piece of dirt

Revealing concrete underneath

“*I think we’ve found a patio.”

Kris said

Susie moved more of the dirt off the concrete

Kris was correct, There was a small patio and sidewalk, it seems after years of neglect this was once a small outdoor reading area that hasn’t been used in probably decades

They dug it up and found a rusted placard on the ground, Kris looked down at the plaque

“*It says here that a time capsule was buried here thirty years ago. Specifically March 12 1992.”

Kris said

“*Eh… By the Angel, why that date…”

Noelle winced

“*When is it supposed to be opened?”

Susie asked

“*Five years ago.”

Kris answered

“*Well let’s go open it then!”

Berdly said

“*Hold on, We should tell Mrs Boom that we’re doing this right?”

Noelle asked

“*Yes I think she would like to know about this.”

Kris replied

With that they walked into the Library

They stepped inside to see Mrs Boom sitting at the front desk

“*Ah, hello, Berdly.”

She said gently in a sweet tone

“*It's a joy to see you here today.”

Mrs Boom continued with a small smile

“*It’s nice to see you too, I wanted to ask a question about a time capsule?”

Berdly said

“*A wha?”

Mrs Boom asked

“*The time capsule outside, It’s by the patio out back.”

Susie replied

Mrs Boom sat in her chair for a moment recollecting

“*I don’t know anything about a time capsule.”

Mrs Boom answered honestly

“*So… Are we free to open it?”

Noelle asked

“*Sure thing children, You’ll hear no complaints from me.”

Mrs Boom said before going back to reading

They walked outside and walked to the back of the library

Susie quickly dug up the time capsule and placed it on the concrete

They opened it up and peaked inside

A few stand out items right away

Kris grabbed some old magazines

They quickly flipped through the pages and read through it

“*This is an old gossip magazine, talking about the latest rumors and music videos at the time. It’s a very fascinating perspective of the culture at the time.”

Kris said

“*How is that impactful?”

Susie asked

“*Well the history of music is fascinating even with my little understanding of it. The music industry is very much a cold and cruel environment. Often hating music artists that were humans and seen as irregular.”

Kris replied

“*This magazine seems to call out this behavior, Allowing readers to be aware of these artists’ existence and letting them know of other music viewing networks and radio stations that played these artists.”

Kris said

Berdly reached into the time capsule and pulled out a small rectangular object wrapped in tape and bubble wrap

Berdly opened it up and gasped

“*I think this is a Jenten cartridge!”

Berdly shouted

Berdly unwrapped it and looked closely

“*Oh that’s kinda neat, It’s nothing rare or anything but it’s still a cool piece of history. It’s a copy of Riley’s Adventures for the JES. They aren’t very valuable because they’re everywhere, but it’s still a very worthwhile find. I bet whoever this belongs to played the heck out of this forever ago. Wonder if they still live in town.”

Berdly said

There wasn’t really much else of value in the box, A few small toys, old coins and nothing really else

Susie closed the box

“*Well… That was kinda interesting I guess.”

Susie said

“*I mean it was fun to walk around town and explore.”

Noelle replied

“*Reminds me of all the adventures we used to go on when we were little right Kris?”

Noelle asked

Kris nodded with a gentle smile

“*See? We got something out of this. It was all fun in the end and that’s cool in its own way.”

Noelle said with a jolly smile
