"Morphine" Slowed Down & Up Close

Here's a more detailed, hand-held camera view of Clifton playing "Morphine," slowed down and with some extra emphasis on those repetitive open-string pull-offs. Note that the right-hand style being used here is a straight overhand method. Tuning is fCFAC.

Most of us today in 2018 probably think of this style as "clawhammer," but a century ago (especially in Kentucky) this would most likely have been referred to as "overhand" style or simply "playing the banjo." For more on this subject I encourage you to visit www.banjohistory.com

Thanks for supporting this undertaking and don't forget our 1st Live Q&A sessions scheduled for Sunday, February 18th @2pm

Are the lyrics listed on here somewhere? I didn’t see them on the YouTube video either.

Finally getting a chance to go back and revisit these videos. They're really a lot of fun.

OK, will try a different angle next time!

Hey thanks for the slowed down version, the close up is also really helpful, but i find the left hand really difficult to follow when it's shot in the high angle becouse the hand blocks sight of the frets and makes depth hard to gage. Idk might just be me tho :p

Yes, sir, we are going to brighten things up next time! Lighting is not ideal inside our house during these winter months... in the future expect outdoor filming under daylight etc. We have lots of room here when weather permits.

Thanks for slowing it down a bit, Not griping but the lighting was a bit dark. Or maybe my eyes are a bit dim.
