Three Questions from Curtis!

Curtis asks three great questions about playing fretted vs. fretless, how and when to use "embellishments" in your playing style and how to decide which style to use for a given song (i.e. thumb-lead vs. up-picking vs. overhand).

OK, Ray. Sounds like a great idea for our next lesson. By "Bound to Lose" I'm thinking you mean my version of Lonesome Road Blues/White House Blues/Going Down the Road Feeling Bad/If I Lose, Let Me Lose/All You Fascists Bound to Lose etc. I am not as technically skilled past the 5th fret as many others, but I will share will yall the basics that I know.

I really like your version of "bound to lose" but have had trouble figuring it out, im sure you already have a list of songs you want to do close ups of but if you could add "bound to lose" to the list that would be awesome. Also I really like how you tend to play right down the neck and would like to learn more about how to use more of the frets becouse honestly once i start getting passed the 7th fret i have very little idead whats going on and it feels like I'm wasting half the instrument

This little "going across the mountain" lesson and woven in the topic of embellishment is great! For me this slowing down YouTube is the best feature to go through each section of a song. It's like having a lesson with the most patient teacher ever! Overhand drop thumb would be a great topic for a future lesson. It's not an easy technique and it would be interesting to know what song you would recommend to learn overhand drop thumb properly. For me it is not easy to make the drop thumb rolling. Is it just a regular problem when one starts to learn this technique?

You're the man. Thanks for the great answers. That I shouldn't feel the need to embellish just to embellish is particularly helpful. Cheers!
