Rick Ward | Luthier & Double-Knock Picker

Rick's distinct "double knock" style of playing goes hand-in-hand with the unique instrument building tradition he inherited from his grandfather Tab Ward. His album of traditional banjo songs and ballads "Keeping the Tradition" (Rick Ward Music 2010) is worth acquiring if you are at all interested in pre-industrial American banjo styles and/or Appalachian history.
In 2017 Rick, on behalf of the entire Ward family, accepted the NC Folklore Society's Community Traditions Award.
