Tuning on the PDF isn't right, that B needs to be a C...sounded awful. Fun tune!

Thank you very much. I’ve actually gone back and I’ve noticed on most of your performances you include the lyrics so for songs like muskrat, ida red, going up north, and so on I grabbed them from there.

You can find George Gibson's lyrics here: http://banjohistory.com/article/detail/11_last_possum_up_tthe_tree_song_lyrics

Where can we find lyrics to this ? I’ve found some online but none of the rendition you do

Oh man. Those sawmill string bends, so cool.

Now I am going to look up Fred McDowell. I work at music festivals in the summer and this summer I will get to see Bela Fleck again. I hate to say it, but I find it boring, and don't get me wrong I can see why you'd be into it. Anywho, long story to say I love the flowing style that, I will use the word again, it just seems natural.

John F. Cooke

Thanks, John. I have been playing that song, pretty much the same way, for almost twenty years. Hence the lack of effort! As a child I played it much more harshly and syncopated--I wanted to sound like Fred McDowell or something.

Like most art, part of the beauty is because it seems so easy, or natural. It just flows out. That was beautiful.
