You literally helped me sooo much Clifton.. I got outta the Army a long time ago and have been a mental disaster, it wasnt til i saw some of your stuff and started trying banjo that i found my first outlet that saved me from my self..Sounds crazy i know. But it was something about how you played gave me the drive to say *-it i am gunna learn this if it kills me. It also helps that it isnt a cookie cutter sound. You realy press the idea of "forget the rules just be you" ya saved my butt bro , and cant wait 4 the tab. Also pretty polly too 😉

Tab is coming!

Tab is coming, it's on my list!

Just like the other gent said.. A tab for this darling cora would help Soooo much. It is just hard to get my brain to register without a written item to see. Your fingers are just to fast for my brain to register😟. You do such an awsome job a tab would make it really helpful learning the pattern and were the melody notes drop within it❤❤❤

Hi Clifton! Any chance you'd be willing to write a tablature for Darling Cora? Some of us like to work from notation...

timothyleek

damn, my banjo sounds like a sitar when the first and second strings resonate

Lorenzo A

Robert, I played the song for years off the third fret and still think it sounds good that way too but, as you say, from the 4th fret sounds absolutely amazing. If tuning all the way down to E is a bit too low for your banjo try going down just to F instead. I usually just tune the banjo to my ear and to where the strings feel good in the right hand, but these video lessons I am compelled to regulate my pitch and so forth.

Clifton Hicks

We'll definitely do it soon.

Thanks so much Clifton! I've been waiting a long time to learn this song. I'm glad you described both versions as well, and the CD requests are great. If it's not on your list my next dream would be to learn the German War song you play if you have time. I found a copy of Art Rosenbaum's "Old Time Banjo Book" today that you mentioned and picked it up. He has a DVD included and mentions how he was friends with George Gibson and how he learned this song and tuning from him as well.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. I only knew the "3rd fret" / minor version of this song. The version that you play really brings the song to life. I installed a set of medium strings (11-13-16-24-10) so that I can tune my banjo down to eAEAA.
