Hi Clifton. Would you be able to do a two finger rendition of this song?

Ken Taylor

To me, relative tuning means I tune a string (usually the fat bass 4th string) to my voice singing at a comfortable low tone. From there, if I want to get into Hills of Mexico tuning, for example, I would then note the bass string at the 5th fret and adjust my 3rd string until it matches that one. Then I note the 3rd string at the 5th fret and adjust the 2nd string so that it matches that tone. Then I note the 2nd string at the 2nd fret and adjust the first string until it matches. Finally, I note the 1st string at the 5th fret and adjust my thumb string until it matches. That's how I would "relative tune" for Hills of Mexico. I reckon I'd better film a quick video on this. Check out these two videos to see me run through all the relative tunings I know: <a href="https://youtu.be/2XYMcSd1j-U" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://youtu.be/2XYMcSd1j-U</a> and <a href="https://youtu.be/FCEAMuFZLd0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://youtu.be/FCEAMuFZLd0</a>

Really dumb question. When you say the tuning is relative, what does that mean? I've been playing music for 20 years. I should probably know this.

Joe

OK buddy I'll do that. Do you know you can click on the little machine cog symbol in the bottom right of the Youtube video player, then click "Speed" and then select 0.75 or 0.5 to slow me down.

I could never pick up the f, e, a, so on bcos when you get a tuner and put it to bank it only picks up g,d,GC,b, and d, i tried asking people why, i cant turn to f, e, so on, but if u put yr tuner onto choro, it picks these notes up

louie goodwin

U just need to slow it down, i can see what yr doing, also i just realised if i put my tuner on chro it picks up f, e, so on i kept snapping my strings, trying to tune, what no one told me is put your tuner to choro it picks these sounds up

Exactly what I needed. Love the real time speedup in the end. Well, I know what I'll be working on all weekend. Your patreon content has been a treasure trove of songs I've been wanting to learn. You've got me re-stoked Clifton. And for that, I'm greatfull.
