Banjo Show-and-Tell | 1890s Mystery Banjo & Homemade Tackhead

Joe asked me to do do a quick show-and-tell on the tackhead banjo that I recently made. I decided to do him one better and share a double show-and-tell with yall.

I'll check this out as soon as I get done with my CPR class at work. Thanks for doing this!

Joe

Thanks, wild picking! I have heard of Fred Bacon...

The insect triggered my tinnitus, had to stop the video after 10 sec. Haha.

Tonny Kluften

The insect chorus in the background is great. I could listen to that all day.

Hey, loved the video, wanted to send you a video of a 78, if you like Fred Bacon you’ll love this, my fellow record nerds think it’s the only one made, he did other tunes but the only recording of this tune by him, love your playing too. https://youtu.be/uVsKhF6eKpM

Handsome homemade banjo, for sure.

Banjo Jane

nice loud banjo without the weight of a tone ring, great first banjo

I struggle with the neck thickness as well. My last build I started with a 5/8 thickness at the nut but after I installed the fretboard it was still thicker than I liked. I have no idea what it is now, I’m assuming somewhere around 1/2 inch
