"Been a moonshiner for seven long years, and I've spent all my money on whiskey and beers".

Jared Ison

Hi team! I'm after the lyrics to Clifton's spotify version of this, it goes something like "__________ and for seven long years, I spent all my money on whiskey and beers" Anybody able to help?

I know you're not a fan of tab, but it's just the way I learn, for whatever reason after I see the tab the mechanics make sense to me and I can then play with it by ear a bit hard to express how it works for me. If you could ever just tab out a bare bones version and I can fill in the blanks I would be very grateful..Hi from Aussie

I do find it hard not to brush a couple times when playing 3/4 tunes like this as you do. it is hard to get the timing out of just picking. I do 2 finger with the middle finger--do you know Clay Black who I got that from a bit or at least confirmed my tendency since childhood to do this-- and use the index for these brushes sometimes down picking like frailing' but then it pushes me into frailing it

...just don't break your nose, or pawn all your clothes...

Just starting to really get to grips with this tuning and this really helps. Great song, alcoholism does make for good subject matter!

Dang, cool stuff that I've never heard before. Thanks, Joe.

Regarding the above, here's a cool little promo video I found for this compilation. I know it's not necessarily the kind of thing we talk about here, but I really love it. It's excellent. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=43&v=fpnnwYn93UA. I recommend "Birchbark Letter" by Willie Mitchell. It's beautiful.

You mentioned Native Canadian fiddle players. I've been obsessed with this compilation for a long time. It's mostly folk/rock music, but it's really good. https://lightintheattic.net/releases/1332-native-north-america-vol-1-aboriginal-folk-rock-and-country-1966-1985

There are also a lot of musicians on the Navajo Reservation playing older folk styles. I listen to the two Navajo language AM stations frequently. However I have yet to hear a banjo, but I do hear really cool powwow/native chant versions of old folk standards. I have no idea who any of the performers are because I don't speak Navajo.

Thank you! Love this version and have been waiting for a detailed tutorial for quite a while :) (min. 9.17 made me chuckle :D )
