J.B. Schall Flush-Fret Banjo (1890s)

This is a beautiful example of a 19th century Schall banjo out of Chicago.

"J.B. Schall started making banjos in the city of Chicago during the 1870s. Within a few short years, the Schall name became associated with some of the most celebrated banjos of the day. A skilled mechanic and experienced banjo player himself, J.B. Schall worked beside his five employees – ensuring the quality and craftsmanship of every instrument that came off the line." http://badriverbanjo.com/the-schall-standard/

Are these banjos for sale, Clifton?

Banjo Jane

One thing I recently learned (And will try to point out in future videos) is that regular slotted screws used inside the rim to attach brackets often indicate a low- to mid-grade banjo. Hex screws inside the rim (like on this banjo) are more likely to be found on fancier models.
