I learned Rove Riley Rove from Tony Furtado ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tktwzAqwGoE ) . Of course, that's hardly a source recording, but it's good, simple song, perfect for a jam (two chord songs for the win!).

Email me clifhicks@gmail.com Etsy jacked up their rates recently so I am only using it as a last resort. I have three nice banjos left and 4 oddballs that need significant restoration work. When these are sold I will go get more. If you miss this run don't worry, just email me with your price range and preferences.

Hey Clifton, Is there a central spot where you have all of the banjo’s that are still available from the 2 collections? I thought I read somewhere you had them on Etsy. Maybe I’m mistaken though.

If the head is really caked with grime I just scrub it clean with a damp rag and wait til it dries before filming.

As for cleaning banjos. I am dealing with four different collectors right now and don't know what cleaning materials they might use, if any. Before taking photos and filming I always lightly oil the wood (currently using hemp oil) and fill any cracks with beeswax. If a banjo is real grimy I'll hit it up with a soft, worn-out toothbrush first.

I will have to teach German War (I know I'm way behind on teaching so look out for that soon). The fingerpicking pattern I came up with for that is fairly complex and involves a lot of open string pulls and crooked rythm. Straight overhand, however, it is far simpler and I think should be easy to learn.

Hey Clifton, just saw your recent performance of German War and was hoping you will teach that song soon. I asked about it when you started up this page but as far as I can tell you have not taught it yet, if you have can you let me know and I'll try and search harder for it. Also, your banjos always look so clean, what do you use to clean them? Do you apply anything onto the fretboard and headstock? Thanks, still enjoying your page.
